About Me

I am an experienced microbiologist and communication professional. I hold a first class degree in microbiology from King’s College London; a PhD in antibiotic resistance from the University of Cambridge; and am currently studying for a Masters degree in Global Health Policy at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

I have worked in a number of world-leading research organisations, contributing to major research initiatives such as the Human Genome Project; creating and delivering a range of science communication projects; and most recently led the Wellcome Sanger Institute’s learning and engagement programme. I am also a member of the UK Microbiology Society. My writing has been published in Science magazine, and the anthology More Passion for Science: Journeys into the Unknown. I am particularly interested in how history and culture intersect with science, and can be used as accessible pathways to connect people to the world around us. Aside from science, I am an irregular knitter and a more consistent book club member.
